Men's Wear: A few simple tips for both the ladies and gents

Men's wear! Finally!

This blog post has been highly requested and a long time in the making. I did not realize the amount of men that wanted my fashion input. I am very flattered to know that you guys out there want to know my thoughts on men's wear. Luckily, I have many!

Personally, I live in the men's department. I find that men have the best quality of clothes, more neutral tones, and also at times more affordable prices compared to the women's department. The best part about the men's department is that you have a variety of basics pieces that are so transferrable from day to night time and items that can be of versatile use throughout your closet.

So the real question is, how can I be of help exactly?

Well, I am sure that you all have the basics. By basics, I mean, t-shirts, jeans, blazers and cargos.

I want to help you elevate as well as mix and match it. Don't worry ladies! I have not forgotten about you as well. As I walk through these recommendations, I will also let you know how I personally like to style these men's items into my closet while adding the perfect feminine touch.

Let's get started!

The Basic T-shirt:

Everyone has a basic t-shirt. Solid t-shirts that are slightly oversized are great to have in your closet. Solid oversized shirts are great as you can wear them with sweat pants, jeans, cargo pants or just about anything. As picture below, a shirt that has a little texture to it can take a simple t-shirt and make it look like a little more effort was put in compared to the basic cotton t-shirt. The real trick, that I recommend are the accessories. Adding a statement ring, a chain. bracelets or a watch can take a simple shirt even while wearing sweat pants look effortlessly cool.

If you want to make it a little more streetstyle, add some graphics to that shirt to edge it up.

Ladies, the same applies to you! Oversized t-shirts are such a cute look. You can take the same tricks as the men but add a girlie touch by adding trouser pants, purses or even heels. To keep it streetstyle you would do the same as the men.

Now, Blazer Time:

Blazer's do not have to be a for a formal occasion. They are so easy to dress it down.

Not all blazers need to be wedding style. You can make your blazer jacket have a more relaxed vibe and pair it with what of course? The basic t-shirt!

It is so simple and takes the basic t-shirt and jeans to a new level. Again, a little accessory makes a difference. Simple sunglasses can really take the look to a new level.

Play around with texture. Having neutral colors are great along with adding a little pattern with textile textures allows you to have more flexibility with the bottoms. You can have a more relaxed pant option since the texture/pattern from the blazer already makes it look put together.

For the ladies! The same "rules" (not that fashion has many of those lol) apply as the men. Take the blazer and dress them up or down. As picture to the right- I love to wear men's blazer and make it flirty. I even would pair it with a basic t-shirt and leggings and a sneaker. The great part about wearing a men's blazer is that the structure in the shoulders of the blazer already makes you look chic. Its a small detail but it makes the blazer look elevated naturally which is why I lean towards men's blazers. The touch of hard and soft creates appeal to the outfit.

Cargo Pants:

Cargo's are the latest trend buy have been around for a long time. I'm sure these are items you men already have in your closet. Cargos come in all cuts and styles, but I personally love army green, black and khaki colors. I personally recommend a great pair of Dickies. Same for you ladies, men's Dickies are so cute and are very flattering. They provide the perfect amount slack to give the over sized look.

The best thing about the cargo is that it goes with the basic tee and blazer we discussed early. Not only that, you can pair it with hoodies or a zip up if you want a more preppy look or a cool bomber jacket to dress it down. The main thing is that it probably goes with something in your closet already.

What are we about? We are about having the right items that can be mixed and matched.

For the added touch of detail, I always recommend and accessory. Adding a cool bag or a simple watch takes all the basics and give a personal touch from you.

Overall, you do NOT need to go out and shop when you already have the basics.

Men, I highly encourage you to play around with what you have already. See what basics you might not have and then shop from there. Its all about knowing how to mix and match what you have and elevate it by playing with accessories, cuts, and textures. I am a firm believer in working with your closet. Start there first as I'm sure you probably have what I shared with you today.

Ladies, do not shy away from the men's department. You will often be surprised at how easy it is to shop for the oversized looks you have been looking for. If you don't know what to get from the men's section, start with maybe your boyfriends/husband/brother/friends closet lol. Then look for t-shirts and hoodies in store. Then check out the men's blazers, followed by the pants. Get familiar with it Don't be afraid to try it on. Remember you are are looking for those men's pieces that you can use to mesh with your style. So you will not look like a boy lol.

As always, make it your own! Have fun, be comfortable and remember we are here to celebrate our authenticity through style.
